Synopsis
Fr/ L’arbre est la racine, la généalogie, les branches de génération en génération, mais pour les habitants qui ont peuplé les îles du Cap-Vert, cet arbre a été coupé et son peuple déraciné, déporté et esclavagisé.
Après 500 ans de traite et de colonisation portugaise, le Cap-Vert, indépendant depuis 1975, est présenté par ses élites littéraires et étatiques, comme une nation créole et métisse, dont la culture résulte d’une fusion européenne et africaine. À travers, ce film, je cherche à comprendre et à questionner ce mythe du métissage, qui façonne les corps capverdiens dans leur ensemble et exclut d’autres possibilités de définition identitaire.
En/ The tree is the root, the genealogy, the branches from generation to generation, but for the people who populated the islands of Cape Verde, this tree was cut down and its people uprooted, deported and enslaved. After 500 years of the slave trade and Portuguese colonisation, Cape Verde, which has been independent since 1975, is presented by its literary and state elites as a Creole and mixed-race nation whose culture is the result of a fusion between Europe and Africa. Through the medium of film, I seek to understand and question this myth of métissage, which shapes Cape Verdean bodies as a whole and rules out other possibilities for defining identity.

Fr/ Le film questionne le corps, les différentes énergies féminines et masculines qui le composent, et sa relation au vivant. Dans la tradition africaine, l’homme est mêlé au cosmos, à la nature et à la communauté. Aujourd’hui cette vision du monde nous échappe, aveuglé par une conception eurocentrique du corps.
En/ The film questions the body, the different feminine and masculine energies that compose it, and its relationship to the living. In the African tradition, man is intertwined with the cosmos, with nature and with the community. Today, this vision of the world escapes us, blinded by a Eurocentric conception of the body.

Fr/ Des danseur.se.s envahissent une église vide et très vite le lieu disparaît pour laisser place aux corps qui forment un cercle, dans lequel se cache une chose que nous ne pouvons voir, mais que les danseur.se.s au centre nous transmettent puissamment.
En/ Dancers invade an empty church and very quickly the place disappears to make way for bodies that form a circle, in which hides something that we cannot see, but which the dancers in the centre powerfully transmit to us.
